8 rules to live a positive life

Who doesn’t want to live a positive life? Everyone does right? But the current lifestyle and our surroundings are so much induced with the negativity, that all of us go through the depression phase once in our lifetime.

Even I wasn’t an exception to it. However, I was able to overcome it with these simple but effective rules which gave me a lot of positive feeling towards my life:

  1. Be kind to yourself:

Everyone deserves love and kindness, and why not yourself?

Always take time to love and be kind to yourself – do the things that make you feel happy, surround yourself with things and people you love. Don’t smack yourself up over what you should have said or done. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

  1. Start each day by being grateful:
Being Grateful

Research shows that gratitude is strongly associated with greater happiness. What are you grateful for? Make a habit of listening for the things you need to be grateful for and appreciate the great support system that stands by you. Be thankful that you woke up healthy today and thank yourself will help you mentally to cope up with the situations – no matter how hard they are.

Fill your mind with positivity and watch yourself become a happier person ever.

  1. Search for the good in the bad:

The best example I’d like to quote here in Italy.

Despite being hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, they displayed national solidarity by singing their national anthem in unison, inspiring the rest of the world to stay united. These little things make a very big change in our lives. Train your mind to see the Good in the bad (or even worst) situations.

  1. Never lose your smile:
Always smile

One of the most difficult things in the world is to have a smile on your face when we are going through the worst things in life. However, smiling can be a small gesture that exposes your ability to withstand and welcome the problems rather than avoiding them. A small smile can do wonders by uplifting the moods of ours and the people around us.

  1. Surround yourself with optimistic people:
positive people

I would state this to be the MOST IMPORTANT thing to lead a happy life. Move away from toxic people who whine about the negative things, criticize the measures, or worse-spread fear

Instead, focus your time with optimistic people who see the light in the darkness. They share inspiring and uplifting stories, remind you to stay safe, and check on your wellbeing. 

  1. Protect your body & mind:
Meditation

We need to protect ourselves – physically and mentally. Remember that you are what you eat and what you think.

Maintain measures to keep your body safe and healthy. Take steps to keep your mind healthy as well – work out, listen to music, pursue relaxing hobbies such as floral arrangement. Flowers gives a positive impact on us such as relaxing our moods, reducing anxiety and stress, increasing energy. We need to spend at least 3-5 hours for ourselves!

  1. Have a healthy relationship with ‘Internet’ :
Social Media

Trust news from official sources only and limit the time you spend on the internet during this pandemic period – particularly social media. Don’t get sucked into the never-ending slew of bad news and negative comments – you could end up feeling overwhelmed, fearful, or miserable.

Always try to spend time away from the internet – I know this is quite difficult and feels like we are disconnected from the World. Trust me, when you gradually decrease spending your precious time with the physical world – than on the screens, you will be more connected and happy!!

  1. Spread love and kindness:
Kindness

Ensure that you always spread love and kindness more than the hatred!! Less the hatred less the sorrow. During this COVID-19, the front-line healthcare workers such as doctors and nurses take high risks and make the most sacrifices for all of us. They deserve respect and care.

Do what you can to support them and show them your appreciation.  In helping others, you’ll feel good too. These are some of the things which would help you to be the better version of yourself. 

All in all, the best way to lead a happy and positive life is by spreading them from you – try to spread love, smile, care around you no matter whatever situation you are in.
